Top Places for the Best Pizza in Scottsdale1

Whether you prefer New York-style, Chicago-style, Italian, or any other style, most people have an opinion about their pizza. If you’re looking for the best pizza in Scottsdale, here (in alpha order!) are 12 to check out.

Andiamo Pizzeria

When David Portnoy of Barstool Sports stops by and raves about your pizza to his 8 million social media followers, lines form. So much so, in fact, that Andiamo Pizzeria is temporarily closed—though the owners promise to have it open again as soon as possible. They are working out ways to accommodate the increased crowds.

What makes the pizza here so great? Andiamo uses a wood-fired oven imported from Italy and not only uses fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, but believes cheese is a food group. Both those looking for New York-style pizza and Italian-style will be more than satisfied here.

Craft 64 – Scottsdale

This award-winning destination in Old Town Scottsdale has a loyal following who are drawn by its wood-fired pizza creations, which range from Margherita to the Honey Bee (mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, pepperoni, jalapenos, local mesquite honey, tomato sauce). In addition to its selection of pizzas—which are made with local ingredients whenever possible—the destination boasts an extensive selection of craft beers. There are more than 30 rotating taps featuring local and regional breweries, making it a haven for beer enthusiasts, too.

Crust Brothers Pizza

Yelp has named this locale–which is owned by brothers Eddie and Mark Miller—one of the Best 100 Pizza Spots in the U.S. Choose between the “build your own pizza” option, which has a large variety of topping options, or from a selection of specialty pies, such as The Brett (marinara, house blend cheese, feta, bacon, meatball). There are also subs.

Grimaldi’s Brick-Oven Pizzeria

This New York-themed restaurant began in New York with a first location under the Brooklyn Bridge. Today, the family-owned brand, which uses the best pizza-making traditions that originated in Brooklyn over 100 years ago, is still going strong. Grimaldi’s uses a “secret recipe” dough, hand-tosses the pies, and cooks them in its signature Coal-Fired Brick Ovens, rather than a traditional pizza oven.

In addition to build your own pies and an extensive menu of specialty creations, there are also gluten-friendly and cauliflower crust options.

NYPD Pizza Department

As the name indicates, this destination specializes in New York-style pizza. It was founded more than 25 years ago by two former New Yorkers who wanted to bring their favorite kind of pizza to their new community.

To make it authentic, NYPD imports its water from New York, creating hand-tossed, thin-crust pies that are then baked a stone oven.

The Buffalo Chicken pizza features “tangy Upstate-style Buffalo sauce” and other options include the Brooklyn Family, Vinny’s Favorite, Wall Street, and more. There are also salads, wings, and entrees.

Fans from Chicago rejoiced when Lou Malnati’s opened in the Valley. The family-owned chain has been known for its Chicago-style, deep-dish pizzas since 1971. The recipe for the famous crust has been passed down from through the family’s generations, and each year, the Malnati team hand selects the best California vine-ripened tomatoes for the perfect sweet and tangy taste. They’ve also sourced the mozzarella from the same small dairy for more than 40 years.

For those not a fan of deep-dish pizza, there are also thin-crust pizzas, salads, pastas, and more, as well as gluten-free pizzas.
